Kites…on a Roll® News

Kite making isn’t just for kids anymore! Check out the picture of the delta on Delta Kites Page. The kite was made for a male wellness conference, participants’ average age is 55.

Hints for an Easier Activity

We found a wonderful permanent marker for decorating the plastic sails:

Colorations® Suncatcher Paint Pens. They come in a set of 24 small bottles, each having a pointed end. Colors in each pack--black, blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red and yellow.

I have been having the best time “surfing the net” to find interesting kite websites to pass on to you. Here are some of the more interesting and/or helpful sites:

For you iPhone and iPod Touch users there is a fun app at http://ikiteapp.com/store. The challenge is to keep the kite in the air as long as possible. Create your own choreography choosing among 6 different kites and 3 different flight sites.

http://webtech.kennesaw.edu/jcheek3/kites.htm A list of kite topics: most descriptions are current and quite helpful, some no longer
active.

www.educationworld.cm/a_lesson/lesson/lesson056.shtml Tho this site is directed towards a Spring classroom activity, its content is good at any season.

www.teachervision.fen.com/fractions/printables/4229.html This site uses kites for fractions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/kite This gives an overview of the history, cultural uses, safety, types, materials...

www.fotosearch.com/clip-art/kite.html This site gives you many options of free kite clip art.
