The Delta kite is beautiful to
watch as it floats above on a wisp of wind.
This is a wonderful, easy flyer, perfect for any
kite flying experience. It is a favorite
kite for flying.
The Delta’s named comes from
its triangular shape, resembling the fourth
letter of the Greek alphabet, Delta. Some people
call it a bird kite because it looks like a bird
gliding through the air.
Unlike many kites, this Delta
does not have a bridle line. It has a keel at
the center that acts as a bridle and determines
the kite’s flight angle to the wind. The flying
line attaches through a point on the keel.
You'll need about 1/2 hour
to assemble, before decorating. The pattern
is rather clever because you need to flip one
side over to create a 4' triangle. That's why
this kite is for kids 10 and above, though
younger kids can certainly fly it.
The construction and flying of
this delta is perfect for
kids who are looking for "cool" things to do.
There's nothing "cooler" than creating your own
project and having it work!
